Gold, Silver & Chrome Plated Fittings – Coming Soon

We’ll soon be offering gold plated, silver plated and chrome plated fittings as an option on your Sam Browne kits.

But before anyone gets too excited about “gold plated” as a label — there are a few things worth understanding.

Not All Gold Plating Is Equal.

Gold plating is measured in microns — typically 1, 2 or 4 micron thickness.

1 micron – thin, cheaper, wears quicker

2 micron – stronger, more durable

4 micron – premium, longest lasting

A lot of companies will advertise “gold plated fittings,” but in many cases it’s likely 1 micron plating. It looks brilliant at first… but it can wear through faster than you’d expect.

When that happens, you’re left with nickel showing through on a brown belt — and that’s not what you want on ceremonial kit.

I’ve personally replaced quite a few sets of fittings from other makers where the gold had worn off in a short space of time. It ends up costing more in the long run.

For that reason, I won’t be offering 1 micron. There’s simply no point.

Why Choose Plated Fittings?

The main benefits of gold, silver or chrome plated fittings are:

They don’t tarnish like raw brass

Far less polishing required

Maintain a consistent finish

Sharper, more uniform ceremonial appearance.

If you’ve ever spent hours polishing brass before parade, you’ll understand the appeal. Plated fittings significantly reduce maintenance while still delivering that sharp, formal finish.

Pricing (Fittings Only)

Starting prices (subject to full fitting set required):

2 micron Gold Plating – from approx. $750

Silver Plating – similar pricing to gold

Chrome Plating – from approx. $300

Please note:

These prices are for the fittings only. The cost of the Sam Browne kit is additional.

We’ll be releasing more details soon.

If you’re interested in plated fittings for your Sam Browne, send us an email and we can talk through the options.
