A Sam Browne is a piece of kit with history, purpose and personal significance. With our new Fully Customisable Premium Sam Browne, you can make it your own—from the colour of the leather to the lining, fittings and words engraved inside.
To our knowledge, no other maker offers this level of Sam Browne customisation. We’re proud to bring that choice to Douglas Leather, giving you the opportunity to create a kit that reflects your service, your style and your story.
Select your leather colour, choose your lining, pick your hardware finish, add your engraving and provide your measurements—we’ll do the rest.
Start With Your Leather Colour
Your kit starts with genuine Sedgwick bridle leather, available in Dark Tan, Dark Brown or Black.
Choose the colour that suits your requirements, then build your preferred combination around it. You might favour black leather with nickel fittings, dark brown with brass, or a combination finished with gold plating.
Choose What Goes Beneath
The lining is an opportunity to add something personal—a colour or texture that makes the kit yours, even when it’s out of sight.
Red kangaroo garment leather comes as standard at no extra cost. For those wanting a different finish, we also offer:
Premium vegetable-tanned kangaroo leather: an additional $50
Crocodile: an additional $125
Ostrich: an additional $100
Snakeskin: an additional $100
Each material brings its own character, from the natural grain of kangaroo leather to the distinctive patterns of crocodile, ostrich and snakeskin.
Lining colours are subject to supplier stock and vary between materials. If you have a particular colour in mind, get in touch before ordering so we can discuss what’s available.
Pick Your Hardware Finish
The fittings help define the overall appearance of your Sam Browne. Brass and Nickel are both included at no extra cost, giving you a choice of two traditional finishes.
For a different look, we offer Chrome for an additional $500, or 18ct Gold Plating with a 2-micron thickness for an additional $1,200.
All fittings are removable for maintenance and replacement.
Add Your Story With Free Engraving
Personalised engraving is included at no extra cost.
A corps badge, your name, a service milestone, a favourite quote or a poem—this is your space to add something meaningful. It could be a personal reminder, a tribute or a message for someone receiving the kit as a gift.
The engraving area measures 10 cm × 5.5 cm. Longer wording requires a smaller font, so keep that in mind when choosing what you’d like to include.

A Kit With Its Own Character
Natural leather has variations in grain, tone and texture. Exotic linings have their own individual patterns, too. Combined with your chosen colours, hardware and engraving, these details create a Sam Browne with a character of its own.
We handcraft each kit in our Australian workshop. Please allow 2–6 weeks for production, depending on workshop demand and the availability of your selected materials and finishes. If you need your kit for a particular date, contact us before ordering to confirm timing.
